Licuala Lodge

The Lodge is an award-winning Queenslander Pole Home, set in World Heritage Rainforest just one and a half kms from one of the most beautiful beaches in Queensland.

Guest accommodation, separate to the main house, is fully en-suite, has an outside sitting area, all overlooking the magnificent gardens.

There is a large guest lounge - complete with TV, reference books, book swap library, games (Trivial Pursuit, chess, backgammon, cards etc..). We offer laundry facilities for your convenience and complimentary high speed Internet across the property.

We have a beautiful saltwater swimming pool with a waterfall feature, where often a Cassowary will come walking by - it has just got to be the best in the area. The colourful grounds have a tropical feel to them - lots of native plants to attract scores of birds and butterflies, including the bright blue Ulysses, and the bright green Cairns Birdwing.

There is a Cassowary (or 2 and sometimes with chick) that frequently visits the Lodge - so if you have not seen this magnificent and endangered bird in the wild - this is your chance. Other wildlife around the house include a pair of nesting Yellow Sunbirds, a number of Pademelons, Kookaburras, numerous other birds and a very inquisitive Rusty Lace Monitor Lizard.

Mission Beach is blessed with several excellent restaurants which are all close by. If you are a bit tired of eating out, we have cooking facilities and a couple of BBQs, and you are welcome to dine on our upper veranda overlooking the floodlit garden.

We can arrange tours for you and have brochures on all the main tour operators in the area, the majority of them pick up/drop off at Licuala Lodge.

Extreme sports are available here - Scuba Diving, White Water Rafting and Sky Diving - but most of all you will be knocked over by the tranquillity and serenity of Mission Beach. We can even teach you to dive on site, followed by a trip to the Great Barrier Reef ( if you book for around 4 nights), or if this is all too much you can kick back and have a relaxing/remedial massage from our qualified therapist.....

We offer excellent value for money as included in your rate we serve one of the best continental breakfasts in all Queensland (according to our guests!) - start with a Tropical Fruit Delight (fruits from the garden when in season), a choice of cereals, juice, homemade bread, preserves and cakes, and of course a selection of teas and filter coffee! Cooked breakfasts are also available at an additional charge.
