With the backdrop of its majestic 18-kilometre long sandstone namesake, Mt Mulligan Lodge offers laid-back luxury in the rugged outback environment of Queensland and is the newest member of the Luxury Lodges of Australia.

Located on a 28,000-hectare working cattle station, Mt Mulligan Lodge invites just 16 guests to experience the spirit of the outback through a captivating landscape that’s steeped in indigenous significance dating back 37,000 years. The expansive property bears the marks of the historic gold and coal rush and in its current operation, the pastoral history of Australia.

A range of experiences have been designed to make the surrounding landscape and its fascinating history. These include guided tours of the goldfields, including a demonstration of Australia's oldest operating gold crusher, exploration of the historic Mount Mulligan coal mine and abandoned township, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) adventures, chef-prepared picnic hampers, barramundi fishing, scenic helicopter flights, guided nature walks and the chance to experience the operations of a working cattle station.

Mt Mulligan Lodge is accessible via a 35-minute helicopter flight or 2.5-hour 4WD adventure from Cairns.

Access to Mt Mulligan Lodge is via a 35min helicopter journey from Cairns, providing sweeping aerial views of the 150 million year old Daintree Rainforest, the lush Atherton Tablelands and the rugged terrain that surrounds the majestic Mount Mulligan itself.

When travelling to Mt Mulligan, passengers are restricted to one small bag, to a maximum weight of 15kgs in total. Soft duffle bags are required. If you arrive with a structured suitcase, there are duffle bags on-site for you to re-pack your luggage into.

Excess luggage can be safely stored whilst you are at Mt Mulligan.

Daily scheduled helicopter transfers are subject to availability and payload restrictions, a private helicopter charter may be required. Some transfer flights may be limited to 130kg per seat. We are able to arrange another helicopter for flights requiring more than this, however a surcharge might apply.

Mt Mulligan Lodge can also be accessed by road; a 2.5 to 3 hour 4WD adventure from Cairns.

Additional information – there can be road closures to Mt Mulligan Lodge during the peak of the wet season from January to March. We recommend that guests book helicopter transfers during this period to avoid any road closures. Due to the challenging nature of the road to Mount Mulligan, past Dimbulah, we also suggest booking a private car transfer unless you are experienced at driving a 4WD vehicle on unsealed roads.

Cancellation Policy

PAYMENT TERMS: Deposit amount is 20% of total booking value. Balance is due 30 days prior to arrival. CANCELLATION TERMS: Cancellation fees apply. 61+ days prior to arrival - no cancellation fees apply. 60-31 days prior to arrival - 50% of booking value (accommodation and helicopter transfers). 30 days or less prior to arrival - 100% of booking value (accommodation and helicopter transfers). All cancellations must be received in writing. We highly recommend travel insurance to cover for any unforeseen circumstances.
