This charming cottage rental is tucked away in the countryside about 15 minutes north of Mount Gambier, South Australia. Located on a tranquil 63-acre property, the cottage boasts a peaceful setting and provides the perfect base for exploring all the natural beauty the surrounding region has to offer. On the property, guests will enjoy six acres of gardens to explore, as well as a variety of birds, plants, and native Australian animals.

Bush Haven Cottages are operated by Tim and Pam Creeper since 1997. They have lived on the 63 acre site for 25 years and have been beautifying it ever since. They were enjoying the property so much they felt selfish keeping it to themselves so they opened Bush Haven Cottages.
Their first self-contained cottage was named it “Bear Cottage”, which is a 2 bedroom. Bear cottage was transported to the property by the previous owners in 1985 from Casterton in Victoria. Along with many repairs and reno’s. A nice slow combustion fire fitted in the lounge area. The bathroom was renovated and fitted out with red cedar and Blackwood. Then the lounge was opened up and fitted with Bird’s eye, figured Poplar.
In 1995 they added another home which was transported to the site as a home for Tim and Pams Mother. She loved the place so much she had to come and live there. This became the second cottage in 2007 when it was named “Nanna’s Rose Cottage”. It is the 3 bedroom. Both of these cottages are decorated in Tim and Pam’s own eclectic style, with wood, antiques, and memories of Nanna as the building blocks of something quite special.
Bush Haven Cottage gardens are over 6 acres and have extensive plantings which merge through the remnant Stringybark scrub around the houses. Tim, Pam and Nanna with a bit of help from their 4 lovely children, planted the garden areas with native and exotic shrubs and trees. Some of which are rare. New plants are still going in the ground every year in an ongoing attempt to create the most peaceful and beautiful property.
Bush Haven Cottages is an opportunity for Tim and Pam to share this wonderful part of God’s marvellous creation that the Creepers get to call home so you can take in the tranquillity, see the marvellous flora and fauna, the amazing birds, the roo’s, possums, koalas, native orchids of all kinds and many others. Whether you need a break or a bit of respite or just a holiday. Bring the children or family and friends to the Creepers of Grundy’s Lane, Dismal Swamp and be fooled by the name of the area. You will be amazed at just how amazing it really is. “Absolutely gorgeous!”

Map & Directions

Directions

Directions from the Mount.
When approaching Mount Gambier, stay on the highway and when arriving at the round-about with MacDonalds on the corner: Head out (north) on Riddock Hwy (the road to Penola/Narracoorte). Travel approx. 15 kms from Macdonalds to Grundy’s lane on the left (White metal rd 5kms after the airport). We are located 5kms down Grundy’s lane on the right at no.488.
When coming from Millicent; take the Mount Gambier Hwy to the Glencoe turn-off follow this to Glencoe and turn Left after the “Glencoe wool shed” following the “Airport” signs from (they're the ones with the image of a plane on them that points in the direction you need to turn) there for about 20kms. When you come to the railway crossing, DO NOT follow the airport sign any more, instead turn left directly after the railway line and turn up Carney Lake Rd (There is a blue tourist sign on the same sign post saying “Bush Haven Cottage 3kms”) Then turn right into Grundy’s Lane and travel 1.3kms to the driveway on the left. There is a sign at the gateway.
When using your GPS to find us, it may tell you to use Hinton Rd. DON”T do this! It is no more than a forest track and has locked gates across it in some places. Continue past Hinton Rd then turn right onto Carney Lake Rd then Grundy’s lane is about 3 Km’s on the righ.t Otherwise come directly from Riddock HWY onto Grundy’s lane.
