Woodlands Rainforest Retreat is a short break destination for adult couples, a hideaway retreat offering a rare combination of indulgent luxury and nature based experience in a truly secluded temperate rainforest in the mountains of the Black Spur. The four architect designed self contained bungalows are situated in rainforest remnant on 40 acres overlooking the fern gullies of the Hermitage Creek.
Each bungalow is hidden in its own separate enclave within the rainforest, offering complete seclusion, both from each other and the outside world. They are completely out of sight, overlooking beautiful fern gullies and a private bushland lake, with the sound of the babbling Hermitage Creek in the background. There are no neighbours....only the wombats, wallabies, echidnas and platypus (if you listen very carefully). Guests are able to enjoy a unique part of Australia, a temperate rainforest with native flora and fauna featuring magnificent birdlife. All of these wonders can be enjoyed from the huge elevated deck of each bungalow. Or through the floor to ceiling windows that frame the wonderful backdrop.
Woodlands offers a rare opportunity for guests to enjoy this wonderful environment without compromising on their comfort or luxury, while protecting the integrity of the natural environment. The bungalows act as a perfect "hide" - protecting the rainforest from human interference while allowing guests to enjoy the beauty of the rainforest.
The four bungalows were designed by local architect David Underwood, and are split level and open plan with huge windows that look out at a wallpaper of living forest. Crafted from local materials - polished mountain ash floorboards,recycled myrtle beech benches and radially sawn yellow stringybark exterior cladding, the bungalows blend into the surrounding bush so perfectly that they seem part of the rainforest furniture.

Directions
Woodlands is 20 km east of Healesville on the Maroondah Hwy. Travel over the Black Spur and turn left into Manby Road 3 kms past Dom Dom Saddle. Proceed 700 metres down Manby Road and turn left into Woodlands driveway. Follow the signs to Reception. Do not rely on your GPS to find our exact location. Even using accurate co-ordinates, some mapping companies will direct you into non-existent roads. Tow trucks can be expensive!

Woodlands strongly advise taking travel insurance
Woodlands reserves the right to impose a cancellation fee equal to the first night non-refundable deposit from the date of booking until 14 days prior to arrival.
Cancellations within 14 days or failures to arrive on the due date or cancelled days after arrival will be charged at full rate. A no-show is when you do not check-in or notify by 5 pm on the day of your booking reservation.
Should you wish to amend a reservation modifications may be made once by contacting the resort prior to 14 days of arrival with an administrative transfer fee of $60.00 to cover costs. Sensess will not be liable should it fail to provide its products and services due to no availability.
In the event that Woodlands for reasons beyond its control need to cancel a reservation due to a crisis such as adverse weather conditions that may affect the safety of guests and infrastructure such as official warnings from authorities of impending storms floods and extreme and above fire ratings Sensess may require in residence guests to leave and prevent incoming guests from entering. Guests need to ensure their travel insurance is current and covers such events.
Upon check-in a pre-authorisation will be taken for the total amount of $550 per cottage.
Woodlands reserves the right to charge for any breakages or damage incurred during your stay or leaving your cottage in an unreasonable condition that would require additional staff. Such charges may include lost revenue nights it may take the clean or repair such damages.
